8. Aja Kong Vs. Bull Nakano – Wrestlemarinpiad II

Aja Kong was (and still is) a badass. Bull Nakano was (and likely still is) a badass. Put these two women together and you are guaranteed a special kind of hoss fight - and that's exactly what audiences got in 1990 at AJW's Wrestlemarinpiad II event when these two powerhouses met in a steel cage.

Before even getting to the ring, both women went at each other in a backstage promo spot. Then Kong attacked Nakano as she made her way to the cage, and the pair were off to the races.

What followed was 25 minutes of heavy strikes, no selling (mainly, of course, from Aja), numerous weapons, strangulations with a giant rope and a metal chain, nunchucks, a f**king stabbing(!) and a post-match mass brawl inside the cage. Eventually, it would be Bull Nakano escaping out of the cage to retain her WWWA World Title.

In terms of match quality, Kong vs. Nakano at Wrestlemarinpiad II is way, way, way above the majority of matches included here. Not only did these two rivals beat the hell out of each other, they did so in a way that made for a fantastically constructed wrestling match and for a brilliantly told story.

It's matches like this that only reiterate how much of a damn shame it was that Bull Nakano was forced to retire in 1997 at just 29 years of age.
