10 Most Controversial Wrestlers Of 2017

1. Triple H

For:

Continues to excel at the helm of NXT. The product continued to provide so much drama, entertainment, and stars in 2017. The man brought back WarGames this year, too, fulfilling the dreams of hordes of old NWA/WCW fanboys, of which Triple H is one, inspiring hope for the future. Knows and exploits with intricate detail the emotional beats of a major wrestling storyline; on paper, his programme and match with Seth Rollins was very good indeed. Jury is out on the middling translation - but the man has past, poor form at 'Mania. Did us all a favour and put his missus through a table in Orlando. Mick Foley probably should have done it, to make sense of the preceding eight months, but still.

Against:

Survivor Series '17 was a parody of Triple H. Ridiculous. He could not have glorified himself more, as both usher for the present generation and its short-sighted destroyer. The entire thing was designed solely to set up his next three matches, at least - and he still created an opening by castrating Jason Jordan in the build. It's all about The Game.

Author Verdict:

It is impossible to decisively judge the eternal paradox that is Triple H. We can only hope that, when handed the reins of WWE, he is unable to physically compete in it. It's astonishing he hasn't yet "graced" a TakeOver.
