10 Most Controversial Wrestlers On The Planet Right Now

9. Seth Rollins

In his most uninteresting year onscreen, Seth Rollins has courted controversy off it.

His wildly ill-advised company man ranting in the spring sparked a debate over how good Rollins actually is. Is he among the Best Pro Wrestlers In The World, Period - or is he overrated, and ironically indebted to the "little guys" he mocked to widespread mockery?

He is inconsistent, which fuelled everything: his Money In The Bank banger with AJ Styles, and his tremendous, layered babyface performance opposite Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam were both triumphs, but his record is patchy elsewhere. He revealed his lack of detail and depth in an overbooked disaster of an Iron Man match against Dolph Ziggler last year, his solid wrestling match in a personal blood feud with Dean Ambrose at TLC '18 was an unqualified and tedious disaster, and his uninteresting character work across RAW has added to its malaise.

Author's take: His suicide dive is a flying high five, and his segment work is dorky and melodramatic. Rollins is a character badly lacking in definition, likely because he isn't a babyface.

He certainly isn't among the global elite class, but the heel turn that is so badly needed might reconcile everything: his act and the reception to it.
