No matter how outdated and illogical the institution of marriage may seem to you, most will be in agreement that serving termination papers to someone on their wedding day is a bit of a low blow. Such events are supposed to be a celebration of love and companionship, not days remembered for pink slips and unemployment.

CM Punk's departure from WWE was just about as acrimonious as it could have been. The Straight Edge Superstar walked out on the company in 2014, disgusted at years of hypocrisy and political nonsense that compromised the quality of the product and made life inside a living hell, or something close to it. At the very end of his emotional and physical tether, Punk walked out.

He wasn't officially released until months later, receiving his future endeavours as he prepared to walk down the aisle with then-WWE superstar, AJ Lee. WWE naturally claimed that the timing was a coincidence, although anyone willing to believe that should check out this sweet deal I've got on old rope. Vince McMahon isn't known for letting sleeping dogs lie, and the timing of CM Punk's sacking could not have been more choreographed.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
