10 Most Cringeworthy Political Angles In WWE History

4. Barack Obama Vs. Hillary Clinton

2008 saw Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama compete for the right to be the Democratic Party’s official candidate in the forthcoming US Presidential Election. Obama won, of course, but could he defeat Clinton where it really mattered: inside a WWE ring?

WWE, in all their wisdom, decided to recreate the battle on an episode of Raw. A “Presidential Primary Democratic Smackdown” saw two impersonators do battle in the squared circle, but not before one of the most cringeworthy promo battles of the last decade. Hillary Hogan preached to her “Hillamaniacs,” and Ba-Rock Obama almost tripped over his comically huge ears en route to the ring. It was hopeless, but the match was worse.

It ended in a no contest before Umaga came to the ring and put the angle to a merciful end. With the Clintons and Obama still in the ring, the Samoan Bulldozer attacked Obama, scared Bill to the back, then flattened Hillary with a Samoan Drop. All in all, WWE wasted 15 minutes of television on this nonsense, but at least they didn’t repeat it again this year.

The one saving grace is the Bill Clinton impersonator, who put on a sterling performance in his wife’s corner. Otherwise, this is only worth watching if you’re a masochist.
