Evolution existed primarily to keep the World Heavyweight Championship on Triple H, but it can also be argued that the faction was one of the most successful ever in terms of building new stars. That was the point of it. By working with two all-time greats in the shape of Triple H and Ric Flair, Randy Orton and Batista were able to learn their craft and evolve (ahem) into two of the biggest stars of their era.

They weren't always successful in keeping the title on Hunter however, and he would actually have five reigns whilst the group was active. One of these came after defeating Orton, who had been kicked out of the faction the night after winning the title himself at SummerSlam 2004.

Orton also won the IC title from Rob Van Dam early in the group's run, and Batista and Ric Flair captured tag gold at Armageddon in 2003, with two runs in total. Their nine championships puts them just behind another Triple H-led faction...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
