10 Most Elaborate Mind Games WWE Superstars Ever Tried

1. The Lord Of Darkness

Victim: Vince McMahon 1999 saw The Undertaker at his absolute most demonic as the heel leader of the Ministry of Darkness. In particular, the most high profile series of mind games in WWE history took place as Undertaker began a long crusade to 'take over the WWF' that was so hot it turned the most hated man in WWE history Vince McMahon into a babyface who got excellent reactions! The key to this story's initial success was Stephanie McMahon, in her first on-screen role in the company as the naive and innocent victim. Beginning with Undertaker's vague references to 'her' and 'she', a famous angle occurred in February of 1999 when Undertaker lit a teddy bear on fire (Stephanie's), leaving Vince on his knees in despair. Eventually, the angle would lead to Stephanie's abduction and the attempted "Black Wedding". The subsequent formation of the Corporate Ministry brought Monday Night Raw the highest ratings it's ever seen, or likely ever will see. Unfortunately, WWE ultimately made a mess of things when they decided to unveil Vince as The Undertaker's higher power, revealing him to be the one behind it all all along- a move which made absolutely no sense and really killed the Ministry of Darkness. It would be dead just over a month later and history moved on. This concludes our look back at WWE's most elaborate attempts at Mind Games. Some were excellent, whereas others ultimately fell flat. The one common denominator in all of them is that they were unique and memorable, meaning it's only a matter of time before WWE ventures into similar mind manipulations once again.
