10 Most Embarrassing Falls From Grace In WWE

5. The Spirit Squad

The above image says it all, really.

The Spirit Squad were a smug, obnoxious quintet of male cheerleaders. Although not exactly a main event level gimmick they soon became a prominent part of WWE programming, even getting to run interference in Shawn Michaels' wildly entertaining brawl with Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania 22. Unfortunately, by the end of the year they would be off TV in one of the most calculatingly insulted burials of talent ever seen on WWE television.

After losing a handicap match to DX when Shawn and Hunter were at their most mean-spirited, the Spirit Squad found themselves locked up in the box in the above picture and sent out to OVW, WWE's training school. For some reason Shawn and Hunter took great pleasure in tearing down young talent around this time (mocking Chris Masters' weight loss after he stopped using steroids, super-kicking Mike Knox and asking "Who was that?" on camera) but the Spirit Squad undoubtedly suffered the most embarassing fall from grace at the hands of the veteran duo.
