10 Most Epic Debuts At WWE PPVs

9. Tazz - Royal Rumble 2000

Coincidently, it was Angle who would play the fall guy for our next entry on this list. At the 2000 Royal Rumble, the Olympic hero issued an open challenge to anyone in the back who fancied their chances€”never the wisest idea, perhaps he wasn€™t so well-versed in this pro wrestling malarkey just yet€ Much to the delight of the Madison Square Garden crowd, it was hometown hero Tazz who would answer the call, prompting a massive pop and some bellowing E-C-Dub chants. Having started off on the back foot, Tazz would soon live up to his moniker of the Human Suplex Machine. Belly-to-bellies, a beautiful T-bone and a thunderous German, turning Angle inside out, gave the crowd even more to shout about. He shortly locked in the Tazzmission€”single-leg scissors and all€”leaving referee Jim Korderas no choice but to call for the bell and rule Tazz the victor. As great as Tazz was, it was the New York crowd as much as anything that made this one a night to remember. A hometown debut and a reaction like that are the kind of things that most can only dream of€”for Tazz though, that became a reality.
