With this question, at least, we should find out soon enough - provided that the 'White Rabbit' viral marketing campaign is in fact connected to Bray Wyatt.
An argument in favour of "Vince McMahon ruined Bray Wyatt" is robust, since Vince McMahon ruined everybody at the end there. That isn't even hyperbole; those who did eventually get over took a long and often incredibly lame road to get there. Those averse to supernatural gimmicks surely must find it hard to deny the glimmers of brilliance Wyatt displayed; certain Firefly Fun House vignettes cast a strange and inexplicably amusing magic.
An argument in favour of "Bray Wyatt was a hack" lies in the fact that he worked precisely one good non-gimmicked match in eight years on the main roster - and the Royal Rumble '14 match with Daniel Bryan isn't even that great on a re-watch. When he said that he held the world in his hands, he wasn't joking: he wanted to be invincible as the Fiend, and he wanted literally every character to have been affected or "changed" by his own. Christ, Triple H in 2003 wasn't that self-obsessed. Bray Wyatt successfully pitched the Bob Holly gets the belt gimmick, but he was apparently a genius because he wore a scary mask.
There can be no dispute after Friday, if in fact the reveal happens: will Bray Wyatt prove himself a genius under the auspices of a halfway competent booker?
Or will he just spout pretentious nonsense that people only pretend to understand, like Homer Simpson watching Twin Peaks?
