10 Most Genuinely Frightening Moments In Wrestling History

1. Misawa’s Final Wrestling Match

The fear of every wrestling fan, whether it's a constant anxiety or buried deep in the mind, is that one day they'll witness the final seconds of a wrestler's life. A horribly botched injury like the dive of La Parka, the fall from the sky of Owen Hart at Over the Edge 1999 which thankfully wasn't shown on PPV, or just years of decay taking its final toll - as happened to Mitsuharu Misawa.

It's sometimes strange to think that someone as iconic and influential as Misawa was only 46 when he passed away. He was a year younger than Edge is now when a standard suplex in a tag team match took him prematurely. He was the greatest wrestler of all time and the industry that he gave everything to led to a sudden and devastating death. It's so heartbreaking to realise that even the legendary icons are mortal.

Unlike the rest of this list, it wasn't a gigantic spot gone wrong, just another fall in a career with thousands. That's why it's so terrifying and saddening to think about, that after years of sacrificing their bodies for our entertainment, one simple bad bump could take everything away.
