10 Most Heartbreaking Major WWE Defeats

8. Cactus Jack Vs. Triple H (No Way Out 2000)

What a heel Triple H was in 2000.

When he wasn't acting as a brilliant counterpoint to The Rock or throwing his emerging real-life power in everyone's face by snogging the boss's daughter on TV, 'The Game' was breaking hearts by putting poor Mick Foley out to pasture. If only the WWF had been able to resist temptation to bring Mick back.

Viewed in isolation (and without the confusing comeback in time for 'Mania 2000), Foley's work as Cactus Jack at No Way Out the same year was stunning. He played a passionate hero to the hilt, and it contrasted vividly with Triple H's corporate, vindictive heel character.

Seeing a beleaguered Cactus tearfully look back at the ring from the entrance ramp after his 'Career vs. Title' Hell In A Cell match in February was distressing to anyone who had invested in his unlikely success story. It was made all the more impactful by the idea that Foley would walk off into the sunset.

We should've known better.
