John Cena Crowd Reactions
WWE

The WWE Universe (sigh) could not have made their intentions any clearer during the Championship Ascension ceremony held ahead of WWE and World Heavyweight Title Unification match at TLC 2013.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Stephanie McMahon proclaimed. "We are joined here tonight by the some of the greatest and most decorated former champions ever to assemble in one ring. "Every former champion we managed to find and corral in the back" didn't have the same ring to it.

As Triple H presided over the ceremony, surrounded by CM Punk, Mark Henry et al., the fans cared less about what he had to say. They instead received his words with massive and relentless cries of "Daniel Bryan!" The volume was such that Trips became visibly rattled. His eyes darted from side to side as he scrambled internally for some face-saving words. JBL was instructed to mumble something about the crowd "having fun!" in an attempt to spin the air of rebellion into something more casual.

"That's a lot of family for one building, Daniel!" he finally managed. It took, no exaggeration, more than a minute to conceive of and deliver the zinger.

Beyond the wholesale rejection, the picture told a fascinating story of WWE's landscape. No fan cared about John Cena and Randy Orton's imminent match. CM Punk gave zero f*cks about anything when he made a priceless expression at Stephanie's statement that Triple H was in fact the champion of champions and king of kings.

All anybody cared about, very loudly, was Daniel Bryan.
