In 2002, Brock Lesnar was the first draft pick in the...wait...he was the 16th? D-Von Dudley, The Big Show and Rikishi were all taken ahead of him? No wonder Ric Flair didn’t stay in the job long.

Anyway, yes, Lesnar went to SmackDown and within no time was an absolute destructive force. Five months after being drafted, he became the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. This is where the big problems began. At that point, the champion could go back and forth between the brands, taking on different challenges. Lesnar changed the game.

He signed a deal to join SmackDown exclusively, which left Eric Bischoff without a World Title defended on his show. He then decided to just give Triple H a belt, which was very pleasing to Hunter and no one else. It set off years of each show having a title they could claim as superior, until it was finally done away with in 2013.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
