10 Most Impractical Wrestling Moves

3. The Hurricanrana And Its Variations

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIzlbDZKMrI A staple of the lucha libre wrestling style, the Hurricanrana is basically a variation of a Headscissor takedown which involves the user end up in the Powerbomb position, i.e. sitting on their opponent€™s shoulders. From there, the user can perform a Frankensteiner, a DDT, or one of many other maneuvers. The reason the Hurricanrana is on this list is because of how it puts the user in a vulnerable position, namely, they put themselves directly onto their opponent€™s shoulders. Just as the Falling DDT can be used to counter a Powerbomb, all it takes to prevent a smaller wrestler from successfully performing a Hurricanrana is to grab them as they sit on your shoulders and drop them in a Powerbomb. It just doesn€™t seem practical for a wrestler to deliberately put themselves in a disadvantageous position while in a wrestling ring. While it can be argued that virtually any move runs the risk of being countered into something else and the momentum of the match being changed, this risk is higher when a wrestler uses a Hurricanrana. Unless you€™re Rey Mysterio, or some other extremely agile small wrestler, it doesn€™t make sense to jump onto your (bigger) opponent€™s shoulders. Sure it€™s impressive to see in a ring, but at times it isn€™t very practical.
