At the time of Battleground 2014, he was past being pushed in WWE. The former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion added his name value for the Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal but wasn't really a consideration for winning it.
This would be Del Rio's last WWE Pay-Per-View event. He left the company the following month after a backstage incident.
Now: Alberto Del Rio is now Alberto El Patron and has rekindled his success in professional wrestling. He's the current AAA Mega Champion and has become a prominent wrestler in Lucha Underground.
