9. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle has many reasons for being one of the most beloved and respected professional wrestlers ever. One of the most notable of those reasons is that, in his own words, ‘he won a [Olympic] Gold Medal with a broken freakin’ neck.’

Shortly thereafter he started wrestling professionally for WWE, and adapted to that new environment in an incredibly short time. Indeed, his nickname of ‘the Wrestling Machine’ was certainly well-earned.

Even though he had multiple neck surgeries and experienced damage that would cripple a normal human being, Angle still found a way to be a part of WWE programming. He acted as GM of SmackDown for a while, but only until his neck healed enough for him to wrestle. The moment he could wrestle, he was back in the ring, putting on the best matches in WWE.

He was working so hard and putting such a toll on his body that Vince McMahon was legitimately afraid that Angle would die while employed with WWE, which is what led to his release. But Angle still kept wrestling, undeterred by what was happening to his body. Angle still wrestles for TNA, although on a reduced schedule.

Nevertheless, when discussing tough and otherwise indestructible wrestlers, Angle is sometimes overlooked because people are too concentrated on his immense wrestling skill to pay attention to his unbelievable tenacity and endurance.
