Jim Ross is still, demonstrably, traumatised by his WWE experience; whenever he catches himself saying "He" or "She" on AEW Rampage, he involuntarily chastises himself. "Pronoun boy!" he says.

Is that what Vince McMahon called him through the headset?

That's conspiratorial, but even if it's true, it is far from the worst bullying to which Ross was subjected. And that is onscreen; it is appalling to think what might have happened behind the curtain.

In 2005, Ross underwent a colonoscopy - a serious and complicated bout of surgery - and the "Mr. McMahon" "character" parodied it as Ross remained in a precarious state and a great deal of agony. Set against a puerile soundtrack of gurgling noises and clipped JR commentary calls, Vince, "assisted" by a buxom blonde nurse character, removed an assortment of objects from a prosthetic, oversized rectum. As mean-spirited as it was unfunny, it epitomised the awful man who wrote and performed it.

Some people thought it was amusing - Bruce Prichard claimed it was "done out of love and respect - but JRs' wife Jan did not share this opinion. She woke up in a flood of tears and was so distraught that Ross, who slept through the broadcast, thought there must have been a death in the family.
