10 Most Influential Matches In WWE History

8. Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (WrestleMania 10)

Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon were embattled in a feud for the Intercontinental Championship in 1994. Michaels had been suspended for steroid use and stripped of his title, although the storyline reason was that Michaels had not defended the title frequently enough. During his absence, Razor Ramon won the vacated championship in a battle royal, a win Michaels refused to acknowledge after returning to action. As a result, there were two Intercontinental Champions leading into WrestleMania X. It was determined that in order to declare a single champion, a ladder match would be held with both titles hanging above the ring. It was not the first ladder match to ever be held, as it had been done at house shows in the past, but it was the first televised contest. To say that the match was revolutionary would be a serious understatement. The two competitors laid it all on the line for the fans, with Ramon ultimately coming out on top. Not only did the match introduce a more hardcore element to WWE television, it also sparked a rise in gimmick matches, leading to some of the most entertaining contests in the history of the company.
