10 Most INFURIATING WWE Quirks

1. Sports Entertainment

For years, Vince McMahon - and this is the most telling indication of his aversion to the very industry he controls - has tried and abjectly failed to get "sports entertainment" over as a synonym of professional wrestling. Nobody ever refers to it as such without a note of snarky irony. A cursory search for the term in the WhatCulture.com picture media library yields no results - and this overstuffed archive contains within it images of the most niche wrestling sh*t imaginable, from Just Joe to Big Bully Busick to an image of the Ascension winning a wrestling match.

But still, we are instructed, relentlessly, to receive the action on WWE TV as "sports entertainment". We know that wrestling isn't real. We don't need the word "entertainment" to remind us. We're wrestling fans, not state athletic commissions.

In Britain, we call it "the" wrestling.

In Japan, it is called puroresu ("pro wrestling").

In America, it is called wrestling.

Only in WWE do they call it sports entertainment. Not even the WWE Universe refers to it as sports entertainment.

Could it be? Oh my, yes - it is the most f*cking infuriating consequence of our lot as fans of WWE!
