10 Most Insane Demands Wrestlers Ever Made

1. Bret Hart Won't Lose To Shawn Michaels (Or In Canada)

Bret Hart left the WWF under one seriously black cloud in late-1997. The circumstances behind his departure and the "Montreal Screwjob" have been analysed to death ever since, and there's no need to retread old ground on the night itself. That said, the fact he point blank refused to drop the WWF Heavyweight Title to Shawn Michaels or in his native Canada is fair game.

What a ridiculous demand that was.

Bret, whether he had creative control over the final few months of his WWF deal or not, had zero right to dictate that the company couldn't book him to lose just because he was in Canada. That's absurd, and it wouldn't have worked the other way; imagine if Shawn Michaels had been champ and told Vince McMahon he couldn't drop the strap in the United States. People would have (rightly) laughed him out of the room.

Sure, Hart is a Canadian hero, but he seemed to lose sight of the fact that wrestling is predetermined entertainment and he was leaving the WWF anyway. Offering to lose to anybody else but Michaels, as if it was an olive branch, was similarly ridiculous.
