Before he was having banger after banger, Sheamus was a brutish rookie who debuted for WWE in 2009.

His first pay-per-view appearance was at Survivor Series, where he was part of The Miz's team in an elimination match. One month later, he was WWE Champion.

The Irishman won a battle royal (which was commentated on by Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura for some unknown reason) to set up a clash with John Cena at TLC. The two met in a tables match, which Sheamus shockingly won by shoving Cena backwards through one of the wooden props.

John Cena losing to anyone in 2009 seemed unthinkable, let alone some kid from Ireland who'd only just turned up. Nobody predicted the title changing hands and the audience at TLC were stunned.

Sheamus held the gold for two months before losing it back to - surprise surprise - John Cena. However, his victory over the Cenation leader did wonders for his career and immediately catapulted him into the upper midcard portion of the roster.

Sure, he never actually pinned him, but as stated, this was 2009. Fans took what they could get back then.
