4. Razor Ramon VS Shawn Michaels
Date: August 1st We were four months removed from WrestleMania 10, so we knew that Shawn and Razor had great chemistry in the ring and could deliver good matches, but what would they have in store for a random match on Raw? The answer to that is a Match Of The Year candidate that went nearly 30 minutes, which was almost unheard of for a televised match at the time. If you're looking at positives and negatives for things, there's one thing that holds this match back from being more universally loved, all these years later... as solid as it is, there isn't a spot, or spots, that can stand out in anyone's memories for long. It's one of those matches that you could watch once a year, but not retain a whole lot of the information once the year is coming to an end and the time to watch it again draws near. That isn't a shot at Michaels or Razor, in any way. They worked their tails off here, but their two Ladder Matches had spots that will stand the test of time. Think of it like any match you've ever seen featuring Jeff Hardy that didn't feature ladders or tables. Even if he has good performances, you probably don't remember them the way you do any of his numerous gimmick matches. The match got better as it went on, building up to a very hot finish, ending with some interference by Diesel, who was the Intercontinental Champion at the time, and who would be defending against Razor a couple weeks later at SummerSlam. Another match on the list with some sort of screwy ending, but it's another match where that screwiness makes sense and helped to further something along.
