4. Mr. Perfect Vs Ric Flair In A "Loser Leaves The WWF" Match

Date: January 25th When it comes to retirement stipulations of any kind, wrestling fans have grown to know better. Fans don't really buy it anymore, but back in January 1993, a "Loser Leaves Town" match was viewed as a very big deal. Ric Flair was one of the biggest stars in the business, and he had just arrived in the WWF 17 months earlier. He couldn't be leaving already, could he? On the other hand, Mr. Perfect was one of the most popular workers in the company, and someone who had worked his way back from a career-threatening injury. He couldn't be leaving the company, could he? That added the necessary intrigue to a match that you already knew would deliver in the ring. The match was every bit as good as everyone thought it would be. There was just so much drama, with both men really coming across as if they were fighting for their careers, with credit going to them for being the great storytellers that they are. By the time the match was over, you were just exhausted having watched it. Flair had lost, and he was gone from the company, soon to turn up in WCW again, and the WWF moved forward without him. He would be missed, but hey, at least viewers got to watch something special.
