10 Most Memorable WWE Raw Moments From 1996

2. Jim Ross Brings "Razor Ramon" Back

Date: September 23rd Wrestling fans were stunned when Scott Hall and Kevin Nash appeared on WCW programming. Stunned and confused, for that matter. Did they "jump ship"? The promo that Hall initially cut sure made it seem like they were still employed by the WWF and were there to start some sort of "war", which would have blown everyone's minds. So, when Jim Ross mentioned, on Raw, that the company was bringing "Razor Ramon and Diesel" back, it just confused people even further. The nWo had officially formed only two months prior to JR first making the announcement, and the group was on fire. Would they already be losing two of their key members? If Hall and Nash went back to the WWF, the nWo would have consisted of Hulk Hogan, Ted DiBiase (a manager), Nick Patrick (an evil referee), The Giant, and a fake Sting. Not exactly a game-changing lineup there. The entire thing became even more insane when WWF President Gorilla Monsoon said that they wouldn't be returning, only for Jim Ross to stick to his claims. Nobody knew what to believe. Then, "Razor Ramon" and "Diesel" made their returns, just like JR said... only it wasn't Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. It was a man named Rick Titan, who had wrestled in Japan for years, and a man named Glenn Jacobs, who had just competed in the WWF as Isaac Yankem and would eventually go on to become Kane. Fans dumped all over the whole thing as soon as they arrived, and rightfully so. It was a stupid idea to purposely deceive your fan base like that.
