10 Most Memorable WWE Raw Moments From 1996

4. The Return Of Roddy Piper

Date: January 29th After Gorilla Monsoon was written off of television with an injury (more on that in a little while), the WWF needed a new on-screen President to reside over match making and storylines. When Roddy Piper made his return to the company to take that job, the unexpected was what everyone expected. Piper had a notorious reputation for being a bit of a "loose cannon", never unafraid to speak his mind on any given subject, and putting him in charge, even in kayfabe, was a risky proposition to fans. Would his crazy character put crazy matches together? Would his decisions make any sense? He wasn't around for very long, as Monsoon would return at WrestleMania 12, a little over two months after being "injured" in the first place, but the surprise of having him back again, and his decision to make the Mania 12 main event an Iron Man Match still make Piper's reign as WWF President a memorable one.
