Natalya Just Dropped The Most Dubious Claim Of All Time... (WWE News)
WWE's Nattie would love to draw comparisons to the Fabulous Moolah.
Currently bringing a sampling of her Nattie character to WWE, and more specifically NXT, Natalya has talked about her wish to become a modern-day Fabulous Moolah.
Speaking on Busted Open After Dark (via Wrestling Inc.), Natalya said she would love nothing more than to be "the biggest b**ch heel imaginable", and asked, "Who doesn't want to be a modern-day heel Fabulous Moolah?" With that, the third-generation star was talking about a character who controls everything around here, all while being a megalomaniac.
Elsewhere, the former SmackDown Women's Champion also said that she herself has "the most equity of any woman that's ever worked in the industry," but that there needs to be "all hands on deck" from all involved for her to become a "mega, mega, mega heel", explaining that the current iteration of the Nattie character isn't necessarily a hero or villain, but just somebody who's passionate about pro wrestling.
Comparisons to the Fabulous Moolah are sure to raise an eyebrow or two. While Moolah is a multi-time Hall of Famer, won various championships, and is recognised as the inaugural WWE Women's Champion, the real-life Mary Lillian Ellison's reputation has long been tarnished by, amongst other things, accusations of sexually exploiting her students and of using those students for financial gain.
In 2018, WWE announced the all-female Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal to take place at WrestleMania 34, but backlash to the name of that battle royal saw the company quickly rebrand the match to simply the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal. Moolah was also the subject of a Dark Side of the Ring episode the following year, which explored some of the many, many accusations against her.
