It's impossible to write this list without Redbeard. Erick Rowan is one of the most metal wrestlers of the modern age and it isn't even a debate. The big man looks like he could play bass in any number of metal genres, from the sun-kissed stoner vibes of Kyuss through to the ferocious blast beats of King Parrot. If we had to put him in one band? Let's go with Crowbar, why not.

Rowan caused something of a stir during his WWE run alongside Daniel Bryan, wearing a host of metal band shirts as part of his attire. This wasn't just someone masquerading as a metal fan either, oh no, Rowan was showing his love for the genre on the biggest stage. Rowan wore shirts championing Amon Amarth, Behemoth and Gojira, along with more obscure names like Korpiklaani. Rowan also wore a Soundgarden shirt, which should be a reminder to all that when people talk about Led Zeppelin, they are actually talking about Chris Cornell and company.

Aesthetics plus appreciation equals metal as f*ck. Redbeard, the metal world salutes you. Major thumbs up for that Carcass shirt.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
