1. He Was Supposed To Face Steve Austin At WrestleMania X-8
The Legend: That Kevin Nash, not Scott Hall, was the first choice to face Steve Austin at WrestleMania X-8 Why People Believe It: Because creative plans were all over the place at the time, more than anything. Hall had already alienated his colleagues backstage with his prickish behaviour, while Nash was playing nice and trying to get into everyone's good books (aside from the aforementioned Rock incident). It was curious that WWE booked Austin/Hall, since Stone Cold was actively against the match-up and thought it would be a waste of his time. At that point in time, Nash was definitely more capable of filling that spot. Curiously, Nash basically played bodyguard for the evening, interfering in the match to the point that he was sent backstage. That was his role on the show, and he didn't have a match himself. So what gives? Is It True: One rumour is that Nash wasn't booked on the show in case Hall couldn't perform. Then Nash would be able to fill in fo his buddy. Another report from the time suggests that Nash was originally going to square off with Kane, while Kane's 'Mania opponent Kurt Angle would go up against Mr. Perfect. Instead, Perfect was dumped on Heat and Angle wrestled Kane in an OK match. What was the original plan? It's difficult to say, since nobody has come right out and said 'this is what Nash's role was supposed to be', but logic suggests that him being on standby for the Austin match makes the most sense.
