10 Most Notorious Urban Legends About The Rock

10. Wanted To Launch A Music Career

Story: The Rock has appeared numerous times on WWE television playing guitar, singing and generally entertaining people with his witty lyrics and comedic putdowns of everyone from Steve Austin to Vickie Guerrero. There's no doubt about it, the man can capture an audience, even with limited guitar playing skills. This is an urban myth which has followed Dwayne Johnson for a few years, mainly because a fair few social media posts have cropped up either discussing his love of music, or showing pictures of him strumming guitars backstage at various events, but did he want to actually take the next step and get into the music industry? Johnson's playing ability has noticeably increased over the past few performances. Beforehand, it was simply chords that the star would strum, and not very well, but he has since started picking out little patterns, leading many to believe that he's actively taking lessons to improve his playing, and wanted to record some songs. Why People Believe It: The proof is in the proverbial pudding, it cannot be denied that The Rock's guitar playing is better now than it was when he first started showing up in public armed with the instrument. The guitar isn't a simple instrument to play, and a harder one to master, so it's entirely plausible that the man is taking lessons and has an avid interest in the guitar. That said, there's little to suggest that Johnson has actively pursued a career in the music industry. Sure, he likes to play guitar, but that doesn't mean he wants a record deal. Should We Believe It: No, it's highly unlikely that The Rock has made steps to launch a music career. Playing guitar as a hobby and doing it as a career are two different beasts altogether, and it's not as though the guy has a lot of spare time!
