10 Most Notorious Wrestling Fans Ever

3. Straw Hat Guy

Straw Hat Guy Arguably a more familiar sight than Faith No More and Vladimir to fans of the original ECW. 'Hat-Guy' John Bailey must be in the record books when it comes to appearances. It seems that whatever show you watch from 1992-2001, he was there. In fact, John only missed one arena show because of his cousin's wedding and a couple more on top of that when Paul Heyman moved tapings to a Sunday. Bailey's Hawaiian shirt and hat combo stemmed from a trip to the Spectrum arena in 1985. His friend would always wear a colourful shirt and John thought to himself that it would look good on television, so along with his brother he started wearing them. The hat came from his own imagination around a year or two after ECW started their television shows in the arena. While taking his seat before a show, fans would chant "Where's your hat?" at John as he would carry it by his side. Once he had put it on they would then chant "That hat sucks." Due to the desperation to be involved with the product John would illicit the exact responses the ECW superstars would be looking for, often becoming embroiled in heated confrontations with numerous ECW heels. Such behaviour led ECW supremo Todd Gordon to describe Bailey as the 'perfect fan'. If that wasn't good enough for John, he became friends with a lot of the ECW roster and would often drink with them after shows.
