2. The Ballad Of Kane And Lita

Beginning during another reign of terror from 'The Big Red Machine', Kane was on a renewed quest for the World Title but also engaged in a secret one-sided tryst with Lita. As the angle went, the former Team Extreme valet had agreed to sleep with Kane against her will to protect her boyfriend Matt Hardy from the monster's rage.

The sex crime had given Kane what he'd desired though, as Lita revealed she was pregnant with his child.

In his final emasculation, Matt was crushed by Kane in a Summerslam match that gave Kane the 'right' to marry Lita, which he did during a typically chaotic Raw wedding segment that again saw Hardy take an absolute kicking.

Then a nothing match with giant 'jobber' Gene Snitsky flipped the script.

Maintaining his abusive relationship with Lita for the health of the baby, Kane was crestfallen when a Snitsky chair attack lead to him toppling onto his wife and cause a miscarriage.

The tragedy apparently bonded them, as their grief lead to a Kane face turn on the largely indifferent Snitsky, with the relationship now manifesting as genuinely loving in the wake of their lost child.

Lita would turn on Kane herself to side with Edge in May 2005, with the monster acting as a brief surrogate for Matt Hardy as news of the real life love triangle completely diverted the storyline.
