10 Most Prestigious Wrestling Titles Of All Time

6. WWF Tag Team Titles

Again, the F is a conscious differentiation.

Tag team wrestling reached its apex either side of the eighties and nineties, and while the searing heat-generating southern style was rightfully adored by critics, the most prized tandem asset was owned by the World Wrestling Federation. The tag straps were so coveted that they were once perceived as the endgame - as opposed to a vehicle with which to divert towards the lane of singles stardom.

The division, at its height, was thrillingly diverse and packed with star-power. Technicality was represented by the Brain Busters and Hart Foundation. Brawling hosses like Demolition and the Legion of Doom provided contrast to the spectacular (by the standards of the time) aerials of the Orient Express. Quality was so wall-to-wall that, bar an ill-fated non-win, the massively talented and popular Rockers duo were unable to scale its mountaintop.

The WWF Tag Team division arguably lost its way when more of the irritating tropes associated with it, like strange bedfellow pairings and thrown-together teams, materialised in the mid-nineties.

The emergence of The Revival is a rewarding trend - if they receive similarly flattering booking upon their inevitable main roster promotion, the former heights of the division may yet be reached.
