10 Most Protected WWE Moves Ever

1. The Punt

It is no real surprise that Randy Orton's punt kick to the head is now banned. Of all the moves in professional wrestling, it is one of the easiest for children to replicate and one of the most dangerous at the same time. Sure, the Burning Hammer or Vertebreaker are pretty dangerous, but it's unlikely a six year old kid in the playground will be able to replicate it. Running and kicking someone in the head? Yeah, that's pretty easy to do.

Whilst it was in use in WWE, Orton's running punt to the head was as protected as any move in the history of the company. It was a guaranteed instant critical in matches themselves, but what helps the punt stand out was the fact that more often than not it was also used as a storyline device for writing individuals off television. Whether it was in the ring or backstage, Orton kicking you in the skull usually meant you were getting a little bit of time off.

Hogan's leg drop, Warrior's press slam, Austin's stunner, and Taker's tombstone have all been well-protected, but they weren't putting you out of action. Randy Orton and his now-banned punt were doing just that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
