No man is perfect, and what Jim Cornette has brought to wrestling is a mixed bag. Solid booking, a steel-trap mind for the sport’s history, the pushing of some great talents on one hand. On the other, a refusal to change with the times, a history of using inappropriate language, and a series of bizarre vendettas that would make him pretty satisfying to thump.

His recent comments on Becky Lynch’s pregnancy, essentially criticising her for having a life outside of wrestling, are just one example of Cornette’s habit of throwing in his two cents when no one asked for them. He’s also taken shots at the likes of Manny Fernandez and, for some reason, Santino Marella, with whom he’s had physical altercations.

Cornette at his best can be extremely entertaining. On Dark Side Of The Ring (where he’s on-topic and edited) he can be great, firing off on worthy targets like the idiotic and dangerous Brawl For All (the shoot fighting tournament organised by arch-nemesis Vince Russo).

The guy has no filter, though, and too much of a platform on which to insert foot in mouth. He never stops podcasting, and so can’t stop saying dumb stuff, often about AEW. He’s a legend, but you’d still pop him one.
