10 Most Repeated WWE Storylines
5. The Undefeated Streak
All right, who's next? Yes, welcome to the undefeated streak, where lazy booking meets tunnel vision. So lazy, in fact, that the undefeated streak has become one of wrestling's most common storylines. It's also one destined to fail, at least in the fickle hands of WWE Creative.
Picture this. An irresistible force or immovable object (take your pick) tears through the WWE locker room, racking up an impressive series of wins and perhaps even winning a major title. What could possibly go wrong? Better clear your schedule, we're gonna be here for a while.
Although a basic way of pushing a WWE superstar, the undefeated streak inevitably paints itself into a corner. The bitter taste of that first loss, while a potentially character-defining moment with the right booking, leads to swift burial in whatever passes for the WWE writer's room.
Mr. Perfect, Tatanka, and Ryback all boasted impressive undefeated streaks that teased the possibility of world title glory, yet they never fully recovered from defeat.
Even ignoring this poor booking pattern, the undefeated streak makes for a dull storyline we've already seen countless times. Avoiding a pin does not an enduring character make. Repeat that one, kids.
Forget a Shooting Star Press: coming down from the euphoric throes of victory without destroying one's push is the ultimate high spot. Just ask Braun Strowman or Asuka. Look out below!
