Ripped Off: Chyna

Christi Wolf was a bodybuilder and fitness model brought into WCW in March 1999. She was used as a nurse in a storyline that saw Ric Flair admitted to a mental institution and served as 'The Nature Boy's' valet when he got out, working initially as, ahem, Double D, before joining the short-lived Revolution stable and switching her name to Asya.

The points of reference were so obvious that Ray Charles could have pointed them out. The implication was, of course, that Asya was greater than Chyna, because China is a country within that continent. It's one of the dumbest, most one-note characters concocted by WCW's creative team at the time - and just take a minute to recall what that entails for a moment.

Asya was a big, yoked-up powerhouse of a woman who lacked Chyna's height, but was still presented in a similar fashion. She ultimately failed. While Joanie Laurer was a genuine WWE money-spinner for a period, Wolf was an awkward, clunky musclehead typical of the WCW Power Plant, and an inevitable failure pushed way over her head, having been brought to television long before she was ready.
