Ripped Off: Road Dogg

"Brad Armstrong? Sounds boring lol."

This was the decree of Vince Russo shortly after arriving in WCW in late 1999, when he informed the former No Limit Soldiers member that it was time to find a new gimmick. This played out on air.

Yes, really. The process was broadcast on television.

Armstrong was told to phone his real-life brother, WWE's Road Dogg, and ask him for a new gimmick. This led to Brad becoming a dollar store version of his younger siblings incredible successful New Age Outlaws character with next to no effort put into hiding it. While the Dogg was doing big things on the other channel, Buzzkill was walking out to a copycat theme song built around the same guitar riff as the former Roadie's track, braiding his hair, and borrowing every character trait from brother Brian. The only notable difference was his tie-dye shirt.

You can probably tell how this one went down. Even the most ardent WCW loyalists saw through a character blatantly ripped from the other side of the Armstrong family, so Buzzkill was allowed to slowly drift away.
