10 Most Shocking WrestleMania 31 Moments

7. DX vs. NWO

And now we know why the build for Sting vs. Triple H wasn't all it needed to be... The idea of Sting wrestling Triple H wasn't exactly the best concepted premise at first, but when one comes to realize that Sting likely isn't going to be a recurring WWE presence, then there needs to be a larger value-added idea in place. In retrospect, we know that the NWO was just WCW co-opting part of the Kliq for five years and making it into their own deal. As well, we know in real life that Nash, Hall, X-Pac, the Outlaws and Hogan are all friends. Thus, it was kind of fun to watch them all play-act the Monday Night Wars. In one of those ultimate suspension-of-belief moments, eight guys who all love wrestling really put on a show that's the definition of what "sports entertainment" can be all about. Should it always be about all sorts of shoot-work kayfabe-breaking cutsey insider stuff? No. But is a rare outlier that demanded it. The Monday Night Wars are "dead." Now we can symbolically move on.
