5. Stone Cold Turns Heel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBuHGvtND14 The culmination of the Attitude Era in many people's minds. The greatest rivalry of the late 90's to early 2000's had ended, in the most shocking way possible. Stone Cold had done a deal with the devil himself, Vince McMahon. The man he antagonised for years. The man he and everybody else despised. Austin was battling The Rock in the main event of Wrestlemania 17, arguably the biggest match of all time up until that point. The two greatest stars of their generation were pitted against each other to see who was the better man. But it ended in a way nobody saw coming. Vince McMahon came down to ringside towards the end of the match, but nobody truly knew what for. Most people would expect him to help The Rock over Austin due to the fact they used to be in The Corporation together. But no, he helped Austin, firstly by pulling Rocky off of him after a People's Elbow, and secondly attacking him with a chair. Austin won the title and celebrated with McMahon by drinking beer with him. Everybody was expecting him to stun Vince to close the show, indicating he used and abused him, but it never happened. Stone Cold Steve Austin, the most popular WWE superstar of all time, had turned heel.
