3. The Montreal Screwjob
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31Lsm3DczyY Many people over the years have bad-mouthed Vince McMahon for his actions at Survivor Series 1997, but anybody in his shoes would've done the same. Bret Hart, the star of the mid 90's was set to leave the WWF for its biggest rival WCW, but there was just one problem, he was the WWF champion. Vince wanted Bret to drop the belt in his home country of Canada, specifically in Montreal, a crowd who adore him. Bret didn't want to do this and wanted to give the crowd a last goodbye with a victory and then drop the title the next night on RAW and that would be that, he would leave. Vince had other ideas that's for sure. Going into the match, it was agreed that it would end in a double DQ, causing Bret to keep the title and not go over Shawn, but everybody knows this was not how it happened. Vince had met in secret with Shawn Michaels and referee Earl Hebner and had told them that when Shawn put Bret in the sharpshooter, (Bret's own move), Hebner would call for the bell, regardless of lack of a tap out. Hebner did so and rushed to his hotel room which he refused to leave. Shawn won the title and was quickly forced to the back by McMahon. Vince has screwed Bret Hart out of the WWF Title in his last ever real match in the company and in his last appearance until 2010. The saying 'Don't cross the boss' had never been more relevant.
