WWE Untold: The Champ is HeRe
WWE Untold took fans back to the main event of Unforgiven 2006 – Edge vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship. It took place in Toronto, Edge’s hometown, and was a TLC match, a stipulation that Edge defined. Both men made innovative and brutal use of the holy trinity of hardcore weapons.
However, one spot had serious consequences. While Edge was trapped in a ladder, Cena seized the opportunity to apply a modified STF on his opponent. Edge recalled that “because the ladder added an extra distance from his arms, he actually choked me out”.
He only recalls hearing an alarm which made him believe he was late for an Air Canada flight. However, when he came to, he realised it was him making the noise while looking up at an Air Canada Center logo. This was the first time in his career that Edge was choked out.
Cena was oblivious to Edge passing out and admitted the move probably could’ve been omitted from the match. Never less, Edge was adamant that the match needed an “exclamation point” and took an FU from the ladder through two stacked tables.
