4. Yokozuna Vs Hulk Hogan - WWE WrestleMania IX
WrestleMania IX is viewed by some as one of the worst 'Manias in the event’s history, and it marked a dramatic decline in WWE's quality after its golden period of the late-'80s ended. This was embodied in the main event, which was meant to be a WWE Championship match between Bret Hart and Yokozuna. Whilst this underwhelming match did occur, it ended up not being the final bout on the card.
Enter Hulk Hogan, who had lost a tag team match against Money Inc. earlier in the night alongside Brutus Beefcake. The Hulkster was upset that his 'friend' Bret Hart had been screwed by Yokozuna's manager Mr. Fuji and accepted an impromptu match with the new champion for the belt. After about 20 seconds and a leg drop, Hogan was WWE Champion for the fifth time.
The whole fiasco was designed to try and push the company's business forward again with another round of Hulkamania, but it just served to discredit the movement toward younger stars in the company. Hogan would leave the company not long after and join WCW to ignite the Monday Night Wars, which only made WrestleMania IX seem even more farcical.
