7. Who Attacked Enzo?

Who Ran Steve Austin Over

The way the Enzo-Big Cass break-up played out speaks to a WWE that had learnt its lessons from the D-Generation X split in 2002, when we were supposed to be dumbfounded by who attacked Shawn Michaels in grainy CCTV footage - even though the Heartbreak Kid had eaten a Pedigree from Triple H out in the ring not two weeks prior.

This time, they deliberately threw us off the scent by having Big Cass ostensibly get laid out cold backstage too, just as Enzo had been in the weeks before.

He couldn't have done it to himself - which meant there had to be a third party, however feasible it seemed that the pair, having failed to live up to their billing in the tag team ranks, were about to split.

Alas, our worst fears were realised when we learned that Cass faked his own attack, and he was the man behind those of his tag team partner all along. A very elaborate plan, but why?
