9. Baron Corbin
Love him or hate him, Baron Corbin was a perfect fit for the WWE system.
A tall brawler with zero indie credibility, he was the ideal foil for the flippy heroes of the early days of NXT. He was able to transfer this heat to the main roster, where he became one of the most detested heels of the modern era.
Most of the time this hatred was towards his booking instead of his character, but hey, boos are boos at the end of the day.
Vince McMahon was clearly a big fan of The Lone Wolf - just look at how hard he was pushed in the late 2010s - but lest we forget it was Triple H who introduced him to NXT back in the day. That's why it was such a surprise when, in November 2024, it was announced that his contract wasn't being renewed.
This decision came not long after Corbin had undergone something of a renaissance as part of a tag team with Bron Breakker. Even without this twist, fans just assumed that he would be haunting the midcard until he finally decided to hang up the waistcoat for good.
