10 Most Shocking WWE Survivor Series Moments

3. Steve Austin Gets Run Over (1999)

The "who ran over 'Stone Cold?'" saga turned out to be an almighty farce. Rikishi flopped as the assailant, with his "I did it for The Rock" explanation fast becoming a proto-meme among WWE fans, and has career was buried soon after. Regardless, the moment that kicked it off was absolutely mind-blowing, and created an epic year-long saga that only really fell apart at the time of the reveal.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was set to wrestle Triple H and The Rock for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 1999, but 'The Game' attacked him during a mid-show interview. Austin got the better of him, and chased his foe all the way to a parking lot, but lost sight of him somewhere along the way.

Hell followed. A pair of headlights appeared in the distance, and a long black car charged towards Austin, careening through a chain link fence en route to colliding with 'The Rattlesnake.' He was promptly loaded into an ambulance and carted off to hospital, and while fans had come to expect all kinds of dangerous angles from the Attitude Era, attempted vehicular homicide wasn't on the list.

The collision was a shocking sight, even for WWE's most risqué period, and 'Stone Cold' didn't return full-time until September 2000.
