10 Most Soul-Destroying WWE Losses Of All Time

5. The Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage (WrestleMania VII)

Judging by the fact that Randy Savage would go on to wrestle full time until the late-90's, it's difficult to imagine for many that WWE were thinking of putting him out to pasture as a top name as early as 1991. It was reasoned that Savage had had his time on top, and whilst he would still be an important star on the marquee going forward, he wouldn't be quite the focal point he had been before. Thus, Savage met The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VII in a retirement match. What resulted was one of Warrior's best ever matches, a spectacle which had fans on the edge of their seats, both in the arena and watching at home. It was hard to picture either one of these megastars being forced to give up their spot, but the heel, Savage, would memorably turn following the match itself. Losing out to Warrior, fans suddenly realised how much they enjoyed watching Savage perform, and even though he was technically a heel, people couldn't help but burst into tears when he was joined by his former manager, Miss. Elizabeth, later asking her to marry him. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!
