10 Most Successful WWE Diva Search Contestants Ever

3. Layla

Layla El stormed to victory in the 2006 edition of the Diva Search - you remember, the one that The Miz made unbearable with his awful presenting abilities. A former Miami Heat dancer, the British diva joined the Smackdown brand straight away, effectively learning her craft on the road. Stints in Extreme Exposé and as a manager for William Regal were fairly unmemorable, but Layla had managed to display huge amounts of personality as both a heel and a face - something that would later propel her to great heights. In 2009, Layla formed a successful alliance with Michelle McCool. WWE's answer to TNA's The Beautiful People were 'cleverly' named LayCool and they bullied and dominated their way through the Women's division, becoming one of the most successful female acts in WWE history. Memorable feuds with 'Piggy James', 'Smelly Kelly' and Beth Phoenix would court controversy, buy LayCool became a star WWE attraction that the company built the division around. As part of LayCool, Layla became the first Diva Search contestant and the first British diva to win the WWE Women's Championship. Layla would also be the final Women's Champ as LayCool would go on to unify the title with Diva's Championship, thus cementing her legacy as a historic WWE superstar. Following McCool's premature retirement in 2011, Layla sporadically appeared on WWE programming before retiring herself in 2015 - just shy of becoming a decade diva. Layla will be remembered for her much-improved wrestling ability, her ability to entertain in any role and of course, the flawless gimmick of LayCool.
