2. Lawrence Taylor - WrestleMania XI

1995 was a year of transition for the WWF. Hogan and Savage were part of WCW and Vince McMahon was vehemently behind WWF's "New Generation". Despite this fact, the main event spot of WrestleMania that year didn't feature Bret, Shawn or Razor; instead, it went to the NFL's Lawrence Taylor.

A magnet for mainstream media attention, celebrity involvement in WWF programming has varied from God awful to surprisingly good - Lawrence Taylor lies somewhere in between. Luckily, his WrestleMania opponent was legendary big man, Bam Bam Bigelow.

While 'The Beast From The East' was more than deserving of the WrestleMania main event role, his opposition was completely inexperienced inside the ring. Bam Bam did a tremendous job carrying Taylor through the bout, while LT kept up his end of the bargain from an athletic standpoint - even if he was visibly blown up by the end. By no means a five star classic, it was still a lot better than many predicted.

In an interesting trivia note, LT was accompanied by several NFL personalities that night. One of those players was Steve 'Mongo' McMichael, who would go on to become part of WCW as a member of the Four Horsemen.
