10 Most Surprising WWE Royal Rumble Winners Ever

7. John Cena (2008)

Similar to Edge in 2010, John Cena's entry into the Royal Rumble stunned audiences in 2008. What prevents this entry from ranking higher on the list though is that the moment Cena entered the Rumble, it was quite clear he would walk out the victor. The entry into the Royal Rumble itself was more surprising than the victory, and since this article is looking at the most surprising winners, John Cena in 2008 ranks lower than others might have guessed. Still, Cena's victory was shocking because no one expected him back from a torn pectoral muscle less than four months after suffering the injury. Edge was in a similar position in 2010, returning to win the Rumble despite being a surprise entrant, and both men were already main-event level talents that made their Royal Rumble victories surprising in some ways, but not the most unexpected.
